  1.                COM-AND v2.9 Vendor release

  5.   This is version 2.9 of COM-AND, a communications program for the IBM PC.
  6.   It has been prepared as self-extracting files, and includes an INSTALL
  7.   program specific to COM-AND.    Please do not replace the INSTALL program;
  8.   you may however add a higher level 'GO.BAT' or the equivalent that
  9.   (eventually) invokes the INSTALL.EXE provided here.

  11.   To install COM-AND on your HARD DISK (or floppy, although we don't
  12.   recommend installation to floppy drives), you need to know a few simple
  13.   facts:

  15.   o      A subdirectory to be used for COM-AND.  [If this does not exist,
  16.       it will be created during INSTALL.]
  17.  
  18.   o      The COM port your modem uses (COM1, COM2... COM4)
  19.  
  20.   o      Your modem's maximum speed (300, 1200, 2400, 9600, etc)
  21.  
  22.   o      Your modem's initialization string (or modem brand, if the brand
  23.       is included in the INSTALL script's list)
  24.

  26.   Place the distribution diskette into a drive.  Direct DOS to use that drive
  27.   (for example, if you placed the diskette into the "A" drive, type "A:"
  28.   (without the quotes, please) and a carriage return ("<cr>" used here means
  29.   carriage return) at the DOS prompt.  Then type "INSTALL" and <cr>.  [This
  30.   invokes the INSTALL.EXE program.  INSTALL will prompt for values it needs.]

  33.   After INSTALL completes, COM-AND will start and a script for COM-AND will
  34.   take over.  The script will configure COM-AND to your machine.  After
  35.   INSTALL terminates, you will be left in terminal mode.  Press Alt-X to
  36.   exit back to DOS, or F10 to begin exploring COM-AND.

  39.   Please review registration information and program license in the file
  40.   REGISTER.DOC.  Limitations on redistribution (applicable to commercial
  41.   users and disk vendors) will be found in REGISTER.DOC and VENDOR.DOC.
  42.   README.DOC highlights the changes for this version.  An introduction to
  43.   modems will be found in INTRO.DOC.  The primary COM-AND documentation will
  44.   be found in the files COM-AND.DOC and CASCRIPT.DOC.  Other *.DOC files
  45.   document specific scripts and utilities.

  48.   To print a document file, DOS command "PRINT <file>.DOC".  All documents
  49.   are formatted 55 lines to the page, with top-of-forms as page breaks, using
  50.   tab characters.
